Precast Concrete Washrooms

MTO Northwest Region

In 2011 Miller Precast Ltd. fabricated 50 precast concrete washrooms for the Ministry of Transportation, Northwest Region. The total contract was for 44 double concrete washrooms and 6 single concrete washrooms. The washrooms are located at rest stops throughout Northwestern Ontario.

The washrooms were delivered complete with all fixtures ready for use. These washrooms are not only aesthetically pleasing but will last a lifetime.

Slate River Tributary Culvert

MTO 2016 – 6249

In 2017 Miller Precast Ltd. fabricated and delivered 27 linear meters of 7200 x 2700 precast concrete box culvert for a Ministry of Transportation Ontario project near Thunder Bay, ON.

Due to the significant span required the culverts were extremely heavy. A clamshell style design was used to reduce the weight to 66,000lbs per section.

Pinewood River Bridge #1

MTO 2018-6252

In late 2018 Miller Precast Ltd. fabricated two 8.2m long, 80,000lb bridge abutments for the Ministry of Transportation’s Pinewood River Bridge #1 project near Fort Frances, ON.

The bridge abutments included cast in anchor bolts for ease of installation on site as well as cast in galvanized armouring angle for impact protection during normal use. The abutments also included monolithic ballast/retaining wall so that there was no additional concrete to be cast on site, just place and carry on.

Balmoral Street Reconstruction

Thunder Bay

In 2016 Miller Precast Ltd. supplied over 1300 meters of 1200 and 1050 diameter concrete pipe and numerous 2100 and 1200 diameter manholes and catchbasins for the City of Thunder Bay’s Balmoral Street Reconstruction project.

Miller Precast Ltd. was able to deliver a constant supply of pipe to ensure a continuous installation. The project was undertaken to upgrade Balmoral Street from ditches to a storm sewer system.

Kejick Bay Water Treatment Plant

Kejick Bay Island in Lac Seul First Nation

In early 2019 Miller Precast Ltd. fabricated and delivered two 34,000L precast concrete backwash tanks and a 4500L septic tank with a pump chamber for the Kejick Bay Water Treatment Plant project on Kejick Bay Island in Lac Seul First Nation.

The tanks were fabricated with custom openings to suit the project requirements as well as custom aluminum hatches and ladders to complete the system. The tanks were fabricated in late December in the climate controlled plant setting and shipped to the site and installed in mid-January, proving that precast is an effective and economical option not only during the summer but also in the winter months where cast in place concrete would be extremely difficult and costly.
